Gaitley Stevenson-Mathews
A freelance communications professional and speech coach, Gaitley Stevenson-Mathews also worked for many years in arts administration. He founded and served as Producing Artistic Director of a theatre company in Dallas and has been involved in the creation of several nonprofit organizations, including the Flora Macdonald Legacy Foundation. Prior to his work as a coach, Gaitley worked as a professional actor and director for more than twenty years and is a member of Actors’ Equity Association (AFL-CIO) and the National Association of Arts Administrators. In addition to his ongoing private coaching work, Gaitley recently launched a social media and public relations venture under the name GSM Communications.
A long-time advocate for the arts and community involvement, Gaitley is a Founding Member of NOSH, a program of the North Shore Soup Kitchen, is a Trustee of the North Shore Historical Museum, serves as an Elder at First Presbyterian Church, and is an associate member of Calvary A.M.E. Church, where he sings in the choir. He also served on the Cultural Affairs Commission for the City of Dallas, is on the Advisory Council of the Morgan Park Summer Music Festival, and is an active member of the North Shore Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and Sons of Italy. Having grown up with an appreciation for our military, Gaitley was honored to serve as a Board member of Heroes Among Us, currently serves on the City’s Memorial Day Parade Committee, and was honored to recently be recognized by VFW Post 347 for meritorious service.
Gaitley holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Business, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English, and a Masters of Fine Arts Degree in Theatre. He has additional administrative training via San Francisco’s Support Center for Nonprofit Management, worked as a Research Associate at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital, is a former Glen Cove City Council member - serving as Liaison to the Senior Center, and is pleased to serve on the board of Age-Friendly Glen Cove.
He lives with his husband of seventeen years, Jim Stevenson-Mathews, who has worked as Head of Horticulture of one of Long Island’s Gold Coast estates for more than thirty-five years. The two own a home in the Landing area of Glen Cove.
